Don’t take our word for it, read what our customers have to say about our work!
I was looking into solar systems for quite a while and I could not get any company to come up with a system that would fit our needs.
Until I talked to Lars from IPS. He designed a system that allowed me to include some of the existing equipment. After the decision to go solar, it took Lars only a short period, and the new solar panels, inverters and battery pack were installed, up and running. The switch to the new system went really smooth and without any difficulties.
The whole process from figuring out what we need, the installation of the new power system and most important, the after sale service was handled really professionally.
I recommend Lars and his team anytime, anywhere!
When we built our home on Salt Spring Island, we designed it with the ultimate goal of energy self-sufficiency in mind.
Lars Jensen of Integrated Power Systems stood out among all the photovoltaic installers I interviewed. Not only did he answer all my questions cheerfully and thoroughly, he told me what other questions I should be asking and answered those too. He took the time needed to make sure that I understood the important issues, without any pressure to buy. In fact, he told me frankly what equipment he would recommend buying now, and what he recommended deferring, even though this meant that we ordered a smaller installation from him to begin with. He installed our initial system on time and extremely efficiently.
When a grid-tie backup capable inverter that both met our requirements and his standards became available a year later, he alerted us immediately. He then pulled all kinds of strings to get us more solar panels, which had suddenly become very popular and in short supply. He shepherded us through the process of applying to BC Hydro for grid tie-in. After another very efficient round of installation, we now have 2.88 kW’s of panels on the roof and we are on-grid, selling our extra power back to BC Hydro.
Lars made sure that the inverter we purchased is windmill-ready, and he is now watching and waiting for a roof-mount vertical windmill acceptable to him to become available.
Although we certainly qualify as interested amateurs, neither my husband nor I are experts in this rapidly-evolving area of technology, so we needed someone who knows what he’s doing and is good at it. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate that we found IPS!
I live with my wife, Kirsten, at the Grizzly Bear Ranch in a remote location in BC where we run a small wildlife-viewing operation. Moving here from the city was quite a challenge, not least because we are off the power grid.
Without Lars Jensen and his expertise, I very much doubt we would have made it through to our fourth year here in the wilderness.
Setting up an off-grid power system is a challenge. In theory you can mail-order all the different parts and they will fit together perfectly, but the reality is very different. You simply need expert help.
Lars’ expertise counted on so many different levels. First of all he helped us select the right equipment for the job. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the alternative energy products on the market. Secondly he helped us wire up the whole system, test it, retest it, and tweak it, so that we had everything running optimally.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, when things went wrong – and inevitably they do, often in the depths of winter – Lars was always ready to jump in and help, however busy he was with another project. In practical terms what this means is that we have cut down our daily generator time from 10 hours to around two hours, and achieved all this on a tight budget.
Within a couple of years we hope to be able to afford to get Lars to install a solar power system that will mean we can turn the generator off altogether.
Lars is one of those rare technicians: extremely hard-working and super-knowledgeable which is essential for putting together the nuts and bolts of a system.
When employing his services you not only get great products at a good price, but also the knowledge that a man who knows as much about renewable energy systems as anyone else in the province is always there for you and ready to help.
Lars from IPS was able to visualize our power needs and got us from six ailing L16 lead acid batteries down to four sealed batteries and a new Blue Sky charge controller.
We now have a very simple system, and more power! He was also able to correct previous errors, and explain things to an “over the hill” couple in a way we both could understand.
I recently purchased a solar system (long distance – I live in the Chicago area) for my cabin in Northern Saskatchewan. After having a poor experience with other vendors trying to get advice and system design, I finally came across IPS.
Right from the first call they worked with me to explain the alternatives and match the system to my requirements. I received advice on all aspects of the system and a “hands on” installation explanation when I showed up to take delivery.
The system is also designed for easy modular growth. Not only did they pre-wire the panel and charge controller but they custom built a solar panel stand that would work on my roof slope. The pre-wiring saved a lot of time and the system was easily installed in an afternoon.
Great guys to work with – they educated me a lot.
